The hubby and I were very lucky to be PCSing right around the time of the solar eclipse. Not only that but my family had just PCS’d to a new base that was right in the path of the eclipse. Perfect opportunity to see something amazing and visit family!
We only stayed the night in Michigan expecting the traffic to be monstrous as we got closer to the path so we drove through the night on the 19th of August to make it to my families house in Nebraska.
On eclipse day we drove out to another town trying to avoid the clouds and lots of people had gathered around outside to see it!
Sadly we only got to see a partial eclipse because the clouds rolled in pretty think BUT when we were heading back home the entire highway was empty! We stood in the middle of the roads to take some selfies and just then the full eclipse must have happened. The sun started to “set” across the sky, even the crickets came out to play in the confusion. That was a surreal experience 🙂
We stayed in Nebraska till the 22nd and headed over to a friends house in Wyoming for another night. They had a giant, fancy RV that we ended up spending the night in which was pretty cool. I love the idea of living in a tiny space so it was super exciting for me to be in a tiny living space for the first time 🙂
This was an almost 1,200 mile leg of our trip bringing us to about 1,800 miles so far, leaving us with about 3,200 miles to go!
