Windowsill Garden

Having a windowsill garden is not only a great way to bring some green into your home but also a way to save money on fresh foods and add fresh flavor to your meals. I usually have basil, cilantro, rosemary and thyme planted in my windowsill. Basil tends to be the sturdiest herb for me because I do forget to water them sometimes but the basil leaves will start to droop when its thirsty and they’ll come right back to normal after they’ve had a drink. So really its the basil that helps remind me to water the rest of the group 😛 We also use a lot of green onions and if you put the roots in some water they’ll grow back pretty fast! However after a while of sitting in water the roots get a bit mushy so I’ve also put these in a pot with dirt and they regrew just as well without the mush 🙂 I am hoping to get a grow system together for when we’re in Alaska so we can grow some lettuce in the winter and save us even more money on fresh produce.

Do you guys grow anything at home? Have any tips or tricks to share? Any advice is welcome 🙂
